BuiltBurger to open 1st modern burger stand in Pioneer Square

If you feel like something has been missing in your life lately, you’re right. And it’s most likely because you haven’t tried a gourmet burger from BuiltBurger before.

Their grand opening is today in Pioneer Square, and they will be the neighborhood’s first modern burger destination. For the last 16 months, they have been delivering their handmade patties nationwide, but received customer feedback that more people would buy their burgers if there were an actual store location.

When we stopped in their store on Friday during their test run, it was already packed with people. A quick survey of one table that had tried one of each from the menu, revealed that these could possibly be the best burgers they have ever tried. I decided to put them to the test by bringing two burger fanatics with me (one of whom had a burger named after him at popular Fremont burger destination).

Although their menu seems small, we had a hard time choosing between options like the Supreme Pastrami, the Pinnacle Bacon Blue, and the Thrill BBQ Pork. And for those who just can’t decide, you can try a “Built Tasting Plate,” which includes an assortment of 3 mini burgers.

In a world where toppings can easily kill a patty, BuiltBurger makes the patty the star between the bun by including the toppings in the meat, infusing everything with more flavor than you could imagine. Finished on a custom organic bun, Builts are accompanied by savory potato beignets or hand-cut fries. And for those of you looking for healthier options, they have a beet salad or a delicious bean salad.

BuiltBurger’s Pioneer Square location will also be the exclusive downtown merchant for an assortment of Trophy Cupcakes, voted Seattle’s best cupcakes by numerous publications. In addition, they will start offering frozen patties to buy at their store location that you can take home for your own grilling party.

Although I completed my list of top 10 places for lunch a week or so ago, they’re definitely one to be added.

It’s possible that we may already be honorary members of their “Burger Worship club” as we stopped by three times before they’d even officially opened, and were sad that we couldn’t stop by with friends on Saturday. If you’re looking for a place for lunch and want to try something new (and affordable!), stop by 217 James Street in Pioneer Square.

Update:

p.s. I just found this Seattlest post about BuiltBurger back in 2009 when they were still just selling their frozen burgers.
