City releases new walking map

A new recreational walking map has been released by the City “to help Seattle residents and visitors choose a walking route that best suits their interests and fitness level.”

To help plan your walk, all of the routes and paths on the map have been labeled with the approximate amount of time (in minutes) it takes to walk each segment based on its length.

And, as most of you know, Seattle streets vary in slope from flat to very steep. Those streets with a steeper grade have been colored yellow on this map. If an easy route is desired, avoid those streets with yellow shading; if you desire a more challenging and varied route, the yellow streets are for you!

They offer four different maps [Pioneer Square can be found on the “Central Seattle”]:

You can also request a printed version of any of the above maps by going to their website and filling out a request form.
