New commercial building opening January

An article in the DJC today announced construction on the Pacific Commercial Building at 2nd Ave S and S Main Street in Pioneer Square. It will bring a nice addition of 28,000 sq ft of commercial space and 17,000 sq ft of retail space.

Hopefully we’ll be able to fill the retail space with some great new business interested in helping revitalize Pioneer Square. Businesses should also want to snatch up some prime commercial space because once the viaduct is torn down, the area is going to get even better (including amazing, unobstructed views of the water).

“The $9 million historic renovation involves the reproduction and addition of two stories to the former Furuya Building that were heavily damaged and later removed after the 1949 earthquake. The Furuya is being combined with the Corgiat Building to create the Pacific Commercial Building.”  (link with DJC subscription)
