18 Nov First Hill Streetcar will (most likely) come to Pioneer Square

SDOT still needs to present their plan to council (in Dec and again in Jan) and it will still need to be approved in the budget, but it looks like we will [most likely] get our streetcar as part of the First Hill line. Yes!

For those not familiar, I posted about potential issues regarding the  streetcar plan to loop down into Pioneer Square before going back up to First Hill, and the possibility that it would just stop at 5th & Jackson, not coming into Pioneer Square at all.

The Mayor’s staff has been meeting with the Alliance for Pioneer Square to talk about our neighborhood’s concerns over the past few months, and recently affirmed that the streetcar would still be coming to our neighborhood.

Although the timeline is not yet set, groundbreaking for the line should begin sometime early next year. SDOT is currently working with Sound Transit to make sure that they will be able to meet the 10 minute headways as promised.
