Style on the Street

I have a confession to make: Even though I don’t know the first thing about fashion, I’ve always wanted to start a blog where I take pictures of stylishly-dressed individuals out on the street (or even just people with great hair).

There are tons of people out there who do this already and they’re some of my favorite blogs to watch. Here’s a local one, a London one, a Milan one, of course a New York one, and one of my favorites: Ish and Chi (although hers are all pictures of herself). Here’s also a list by Seattle Mag of who they consider the top local Seattle fashion bloggers to be.

Anyways, my route to work takes me right past Nordstroms and Nordstroms’ corporate building (one block from Nordstroms). Every morning, I think of how fun it would be to grab my camera one of these days and capture people on their way to work.

My second confession? I get nervous about having to approach people to ask if I can take their photo (which is why most of my pictures end up as candids shot from a telephoto lens).

Last night, I was bold. I was out walking the art walk by myself, capturing photos of great art, vendors in Pioneer Square, and people out enjoying the neighborhood (photos to come), and during that time, I had two separate people point out a “girl with a great skirt.”

After seeing her for a third time, I asked her if I could take her photo. I was awkward, she was awkward, but we did it anyways.

Have I built this up too much?

I think that she’s absolutely adorable and love that she was walking around the art walk dressed like this:
