Why we had snow in Pioneer Square last weekend

If the Mayor actually read this blog, I bet that he would have been nervous when I announced snow in Pioneer Square. The real forecast called for rain, but because of the annual Downtown Throwdown snowboarding competition, snow was brought in by the truckloads. As twitter user GlobGlob put it, “Local companies, local talent benefiting local non-profit. What could be better?”

Last year, I attended the 4th Annual Throwdown, and have to admit that I wasn’t overly impressed. I hear that this year’s was more exciting, however, and drew even more participants than the previous year. I know in the pictures that people sent in, I was really hoping to see more of the amazing facial hair that was featured last year (snowboarders are so trendy. and dreamy).

Although I’m sure that those of you who actually attended this year’s event have different favorite moments, the highlight for me was learning real snowboarding lingo, like “snags some nose,” and “nibbling rails,” when I did a twitter search for anyone who posted about the Downtown Throwdown. Enjoy.

(Ooh..does anyone else actually see the mustaches in the background, or is it just me hoping?)
