An Inspiring Movie About Pioneer Square Neighbors

Our neighbors at the Union Gospel Mission work hard to overcome addition—but did you know some of them do so by getting high another way?

Follow 18 of our neighbors in the documentary film A New High, where they battle the depths of their addition by training to be mountaineers and taking on the enormous challenge of a Mt. Rainier summit.

Mike Johnson is a Union Gospel Mission project director and an ex-US Army Ranger. The documentary follows Johnson as he works with men and women in men- and women-shelters’ year-long recovery program. Climbing Mt. Rainier becomes a poignant allegory for overcoming other steep challenges in their lives.

Don’t miss this story of incredible resilience. Watch the film on Netflix, YouTubeiTunes, Amazon, or Vimeo.
