Intracorp IDs three Pioneer Square Buildings in default (PSBJ)
Miller confirmed that Vancouver B.C.-based Intracorp defaulted on a $26.5 million loan in from General Electric Capital Corp that was used to purchase the four Pioneer Square properties.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich the kneeslapper — not! (Seattle Times)
Ha, ha, ha, he, he he. My colleague, Jim Brunner, reports that Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich is on his way back to town for an appearance at a comedy club in Pioneer Square. Kucinich is a real kneeslapper, except when he is not.

King Street’s Jackson Plaza Gets a Grand Opening (The SunBreak)
As for the plaza itself, Seattle Transit Blog says: “The plaza has yet to house any vendors/businesses, so I wouldn’t expect there to be a sudden renewal of vibrancy and activity. There are some fairly unique design elements, however, like an all-gravel floor, which almost gives the appearance of a giant Zen garden.”

Inspiration came for the longtime bartender after he grew frustrated with the consistency and quality of the bloody mary mix that he used at a popular New Orleans-themed bar in Seattle’s Pioneer Square neighborhood.

Affordable Artist Studios Retained in Magnuson Park (Seattlest)
The new 10-year agreement stipulates that Parks will lease 5,000 feet of space from Building 11 LLC and will sublease the space out to artists at affordable rates. They will offer long-term and short-term leases at a rate of $1.08 per square foot per month. For comparison, Pioneer Square’s 619 Building leases at anywhere from $.90 to $1.25 per square foot per month.

The place is called Marcela’s Creole Cookery, but it may as well be titled Slow Burn. Anthony MacDonald and Marcela Fuenzalida’s New Orleans-inspired restaurant in Pioneer Square serves a lot of heavy, unfussy, delicious Southern comfort food (including gator), all of it laced with just enough heat to feel it on the back of your tongue without sending you scrabbling for the water glass.
