23 Apr Coffee, money and art!

No, I am not talking about the good old days. I am taking about what’s happening right now in your neighborhood.

1. A reminder that our coffee drive for Compass Housing runs through April 30th. YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB! Cone & Steiner collected 15# of ground coffee last week. Let’s keep it going. I see we have about 8# so far this week. Those who partake know coffee is not a one time thing! Drop off your ground coffee bag/can donations at Cone & Steiner M-F 9 AM – 3 PM. If no one told you lately, you are wonderful neighbors.

2. Your PSRC Board met via Zoom last night. You may have noticed the mural projects that are popping up in PS. Plywood is becoming great artwork. You may also note that where there is art, there is joy and hope. The Alliance is hard at work on this project. They have a pool of 20 Pioneer Square artists. The Alliance gets grant money for the art. The business owner who boards up gets to choose an artist to paint their plywood. The artist supplies the paint and work and gets $1000 upon completion. Simple.
*Are you a PS artist in need of work right now? If you want to be considered for this work, please send me your email and a link to your portfolio. We will get you into the artists pool.The grant money is running low and the need is high for this project. It takes time to get grants and right now, we don’t have time to spare. The PSRC board voted (last evening) to fund up to $5,000 of our money for 5 more murals.
*Are you a person with some money and in need of instant joy? You can donate to the mural cause. Reply back and I can hook you up with the Alliance coordination person for murals. They would love to help you get some joy. 😉
