Neighborhood Watch and more information

While we don’t formally have a “neighborhood watch” program, PS Residents are now the best eyes out on our streets.

The Alliance is working remotely, too, so they complied ways (below) that we can all help since many of us are out walking, getting some fresh air during these times. As always, stay safe. We are the eyes and ears for our neighborhood, not the enforcers. When you are out, take note of things that don’t appear right. Remember, if using the mobile Find it/Fix it app, you need to complete the report near the problem area as it’s GPS tagged.

So, when you go out for that walk, put on your super hero reporter’s cape and take your secret super power, your phone. You may just help us all stay a bit safer.

  • Call 911 to report all illegal activity. The Seattle Police Department is data driven, so it is extremely important to continue reporting illegal activity to the police. Data helps the City know where to allocate police resources.
  • If you know a business owner in the neighborhood, please check in with them and see how they are doing. This is a difficult time for so many Pioneer Square business owners and even just saying hello and letting them know you are thinking of them can go a long way.
  • Report public trash/recycling cans with missing lids and liners.
    • For cans located on sidewalks, call the Public Place Litter and Recycling Hotline at 206-615-1700 with container location.
    • For garbage cans at bus stops call the Metro Transit Instant hotline at 206-477-3850.
    • For garbage cans in city parks call 206-684-7250.
    • For residential garage, recycling and food waste issues call 206-684-3000.
  • Report clean and safe issues to the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID). The MID is providing limited services at this time. Ambassadors are working Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00am-1:30pm. Call the dispatch center at 206-441-3303 during their hours of operation or submit service requests online any time here or using the link:https://downtownseattle.org/programs-and-services/downtown-ambassadors/clean-team/servicerequest/ *NOTE: MID operations are subject to change, but for now this is the current level of service.
  • Report needles, illegal dumping, graffiti, and other public infrastructure issues to the City’s Find It/Fix it Mobile ApplicationIt is very easy to do and only takes a couple of minutes to submit a service request. Illegal dumping can also be reported by calling 206-684-7587.
  • For more public safety resources, refer to the Alliance for Pioneer Square Website here.
  • If you see something, say something. If something seems not quite right, or you want to report an issue but have questions, please contact the Alliance for Pioneer Square at supportpsq@pioneersquare.org or reach out to any of the Alliance for Pioneer Square Team Members. The Alliance Team is still working hard to care for the neighborhood and they are here to help!
  • Be bold and be creative! If you have an idea that you think could help the neighborhood, don’t be afraid to share your idea and ask for help, if you need it! Pioneer Square is an incredible community full of creative, generous, and thoughtful humans. If we work together to support one another the possibilities are endless!  If you have an idea, reply back and I will get your idea to the Alliance or maybe we can work it thru as residents!
